Velma Vizedom Everhart (1916-2013) served as a chapter advisor and later national president of the Home Economics honorary Phi Upsilon Omicron. Everhart was a student and associate professor at Ohio State until she retired from the College of Human Ecology in 1978.
Everhart remained active in her profession long after retiring. She was recognized with the 2005 Human Ecology Alumni Society’s Meritorious Service Award, induction into the College of Education and Human Ecology Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Ralph Davenport Mershon Award for leadership and service to Ohio State from the Alumni Society in 2009.
Everhart attended every home football game from 1945 to 2012, and she continues to “pay forward” through a scholarship endowment established in her name in 1988.
