Helping Ohio State Investigators Meet Requirements for the Use of Regulated Animals

Animal Care and Use

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees the responsible use of animals in university research and instructional activities. The IACUC reviews protocols, reviews the animal care and use program, and monitors university animal facilities to ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

In coordination with IACUC, the University Laboratory and Animal Resources (ULAR) staff provide standard vivaria support, and support for dedicated surgery space (>2000 sq. ft.), an imaging facility (MRI, ultrasound, CT, PET, and IVIS), and necropsy.
