About Us
The Research Development team is the strategic development part of Ohio State's central research enterprise by positioning the university for research leadership and growth. The team analyzes agency research priorities and funding portfolios with Ohio State’s capabilities and capacities and the competitive landscape to develop the university’s strategy.
The Research Development team provides strategic support for multi-investigator, cross-disciplinary research teams to help increase the competitiveness of large, complex, and strategically significant federal research proposals. The team also develops strategies to grow and diversify Ohio State’s federal funding portfolio, positioning the university for leadership in emerging and high-growth potential areas of federal research.
Proposal Development Services
The nature and scope of services vary based on the amount of time until the proposal is due and the complexity of the opportunity. Generally, the amount of support provided by the Research Development team on a proposal is dependent on:
- the amount of time between engagement and proposal deadlines;
- the award budget;
- the size and scope of the research team, including external collaborators;
- the alignment with institutional goals and competitive position; and/or
- the impact the award has on Ohio State’s reputation or future positioning in a topical area.
Please reach out to the Research Development team for details about support or for engagement on an opportunity as early as possible.
