Tina M. Henkin, Microbiology

Tina Henkin has been a professor in the Department of Microbiology at Ohio State since 1995.

Henkin’s discoveries with ribonucleic acid molecules (RNA) have helped expand the study of gene regulation in bacteria. Her research identified three previously unknown mechanisms by which RNAs regulate gene expression. This has led to identifying new antibiotic treatment for bacterial infections.

Henkin was awarded the University Distinguished Scholar Award in 2004 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
