Ramteen Sioshansi, Engineering

Ramteen Sioshansi is a professor and associate department chair in the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University.

His research focuses on the integration of advanced energy technologies, including renewables, energy storage, and electric transportation, into energy systems. He recently co-authored a groundbreaking study that showed electricity grids that incorporate storage for power sourced from renewable resources could cut carbon dioxide emissions more than systems that simply increase renewably sourced power.

Sioshansi has published numerous academic journal articles and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Energy Markets, Foundations and Trends in Energy Markets and Policy, and IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, among many others. He is the recipient of the 2020 Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) OR Division Annual Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Operations Research. He is currently serving on the Electricity Advisory Committee for the U.S. Department of Energy and is chair of its Energy Storage Subcommittee.
