Novel target and lead compound to improve cognitive deficits after moderate traumatic brain injury

Paco Herson, PhD will discuss his research as it relates to chronic cognitive dysfunction following acquired brain injury. His lab utilizes mouse models of traumatic brain injury, cardiac arrest and CPR and ischemic stroke and interrogate neuronal network dysfunction in the weeks to months following recovery from acute injury. They employ a variety of experiment techniques including electrophysiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, virus-mediated gene manipulation and histology.
