Vice President of Knowledge Enterprise Dorota Grejner-Brzezinska recently participated in a conference highlighting the impact of the CHIPS and Science Act.
On August 9th, 2022, President Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act into law, providing nearly $280 billion in new funding to boost domestic research and manufacturing of semiconductors. The Act represents a major initiative to build a more resilient innovation and manufacturing ecosystem and occurs against the backdrop of a growing competition between the United States and China.
Representing the Midwest Semiconductor Network, she spoke on how the Ohio State-led group has convened some of the region’s academic institutions to support and build readiness for the semiconductor industry in the heartland. The work includes research, education and workforce development to support the industry.
Held by the Center for Strategic & International Studies, the Enhancing the Regional Impact of the CHIPS and Science Act event brought together policymakers, senior industry leaders, agency leaders and policy experts in a series of panels discussing how the United States can maximize and sustain the regional economic impact of the CHIPS and Science Act.
The event featured a keynote address with Senators Todd Young (R-IN) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and representatives from major funders and companies in the microelectronics space.
