Duane Roller, Classics

Duane Roller is professor emeritus from the Department of Classics at Ohio State. His research work focuses on ancient geography and exploration as well as the role of women during this time. He has participated and directed countless archaeology excavations throughout the world, including Greece and Jordan.

He has authored over 200 scholarly articles and 14 books, including Cleopatra: A Biography and Ancient Geography: The Discovery of the World in Classical Greece and Rome.

Roller has received four Fulbright Awards over the course of his career and has received research grants from both the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Geographic Society.
