David L. Denlinger, Entomology

David Denlinger is professor emeritus in the Department of Entomology at Ohio State and served as its chair for 11 years. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to insect diapause in response to low temperatures, as well as his work on tsetse fly reproductive physiology.

Denlinger was elected into the National Academy of Science in 2004 and is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has authored over 300 scientific publications and written several books. He has won numerous awards over his career, including the Gregor Mendel Award from the Czech Academy of Sciences, Antarctic Service Medal from the National Science Foundation, and C.V. Riley Achievement Award. He was also named Distinguished University Professor in 2005.
