This 2-hour workshop will be led by Rachel Kajfez, Associate Professor of Engineering Education in the College of Engineering, and is designed for early- to mid-career faculty interested in developing a concrete plan for their short-term and long-term research agenda.

In the first hour, Dr. Kajfez will share her own experiences with research planning and provide practical steps for breaking down a long-term plan into smaller goals. In the second hour, participants will have an opportunity to engage with a panel of faculty from across the university to learn about their pathways and research planning strategies. Panelists will reflect on topics such as when and how to change course, planning around life events, and pursuing interdisciplinary research. Questions for our panelists can be submitted in advance or during the workshop.

Panelists:

  • Asimina Kiourti, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, College of Engineering
  • Ayaz Hyder, Assistant Professor, Division of Environmental Health Sciences, College of Public Health
  • Kelly Purtell, Associate Professor, Department of Human Sciences, College of Education and Human Ecology
