The National Science Foundation (NSF) Translation to Practice (TTP) program focuses on bridging the gap between foundational research and practical application. It supports use-inspired research and works to build partnerships between academic institutions and a range of organizations, e.g., industry, government, and non-profits. A key aspect of the program is to advance STEM education and training for students and postdoctoral researchers, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Ultimately, the program seeks to anticipate future customer needs to direct research and development efforts effectively.

The NSF TTP program offers three tracks that represent different starting points or stages in moving discoveries and innovations from the laboratory to practice: NSF TTP-Explore (NSF TTP-E- pilot track), NSF TTP-Translate (NSF TTP-T) and NSF TTP-Partner (NSF TTP-P). The program expects to fund 29 awards totaling $30,000,000 in funding. The full proposal deadline is September 16, 2025.

ERIK’s Research Development Team will offer an information session on Tuesday, July 29 from 12:30-1:15 p.m. for teams interested in learning more about this program and opportunity with the goal of facilitating a follow-on call for ideas for teams interested in submitting a proposal for this program.
