In order to provide support to researchers and ensure proper review and compliance with federal regulations, any Ohio State employee seeking or receiving funding from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) must complete Ohio State’s NASA certification form annually.
Researchers who need to complete the form will receive an email with detailed instructions from the International Engagement Team. Previously, the certification form was submitted once, then proactively updated with any changes.
- Any ‘yes’ responses on the form will be reviewed by Secure Research, and the information may need to be disclosed to NASA to comply with federal disclosure requirements.
- A record of completion of the form will be stored in the Study Team Lookup database.
- Sponsored Program Officers will verify completion of the form prior to submitting a new NASA proposal.
- Researchers that have any changes in affiliations, collaborations and projects must complete a new form immediately.
In addition to completing the NASA certification form, Principal Investigators are responsible for ensuring that, prior to adding additional participants to a NASA project, any new participants have submitted an up-to-date form.
Since 2011, federal law has prohibited NASA from using NASA funds to participate, collaborate, or coordinate bilaterally in any way with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) or any PRC-owned company – including PRC universities and research institutions. Detailed guidance for Ohio State researchers can be found on the ERIK website.
