Submit an Invention Disclosure

An invention disclosure is the official notice of an invention and begins the process of protecting the intellectual property and finding a path to impact lives. Many funding agencies and company sponsors require that resulting inventions be disclosed to the university.

Timing is a crucial factor when submitting an invention disclosure form – ideally, an invention should be reported to the Innovation and Commercialization Team at least 30 days prior to a public disclosure of the invention. This timeframe allows for the time needed to evaluate and take appropriate actions to protect the invention under both U.S. and foreign rights. In the event that this timeline cannot be met, please contact the commercialization team at 614-292-1315.

All Invention Disclosures are submitted through Cayuse Inventions. Once an invention disclosure is received, a licensing officer  will be assigned to the invention and will contact the inventor to facilitate review of the invention.
