Cynthia Carnes, ERIK’s senior associate vice president for research operations, has been named the University of Minnesota’s vice president for research and innovation, pending approval by its Board of Regents.
Over her 30-year career at Ohio State, Carnes has led efforts to modernize research systems, enhance support for faculty and staff and expand investigator training, including the use of AI to improve compliance processes. An ENGIE-Axium Endowed Chair and professor in the College of Pharmacy, she is also a distinguished scholar whose work spans pharmacology, medicine and veterinary science, with more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and fellowships in leading scientific organizations.
Cynthia will be with Ohio State through June 30 before starting with the University of Minnesota in July. ERIK is working through a transition plan and will share more details in the coming weeks.
