Research Development Office Reorganization

As we continue to implement the Research and Creative Expression Strategic Plan and ensure we are providing world-class research support, our Research Development Office (RDO) has reorganized its staff and services to better meet the needs of our principal investigator community.

First, RDO is assigning an initial point of contact for each college, so you have a clear entry point when you are engaging in the type of large-scale, complex or strategically significant proposal development RDO supports or you want to discuss your team’s research development strategy. While you may ultimately be assigned a different staff member or referred elsewhere for assistance, your POC will get you pointed in the best direction to advance your proposal. Staff has also been assigned to select federal agencies and cross-cutting research themes to build out knowledge of the full range of federal sponsors and funding opportunities that will help Ohio State grow and diversify its funding portfolio. These assignments will grow over time until RDO has covered the necessary federal landscape. Please refer to our matrix to learn more about current staff assignments.

In addition, RDO has honed in on the types of proposals that it may be able to provide more time intensive services to, including identifying funding opportunities, coordinating interdisciplinary teams, developing compelling proposals and connecting with relevant university resources.  This document should be coupled with the newly developed timeline for when to access a variety of proposal development services.

In short, the earlier you reach out to the RDO team the more services the team may be able to provide you, increasing your likelihood of securing federal funding.  If you have any questions please either contact your RDO initial point of contact or research@osu.edu.
