Center for Emergent Materials receives $18 million NSF grant

Copied!

Ohio State’s Center for Emergent Materials (CEM) has been awarded an $18 million, six-year Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) grant from the National Science Foundation. The NSF MRSEC program funds research at the cutting edge of scientific discovery by enabling Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) of faculty, students and postdoctoral researchers to take on scientific problems too large and complex for one person or one group to make an impact. For this funding cycle, 11 MRSECs were funded, bringing the nationwide total to 19. This is the third time the CEM has been awarded MRSEC funding since 2008. The grant will allow the CEM to form two new IRGs aimed at developing materials that provide improved control over magnetic properties, generating new paradigms in computing and information storage.
