Andrea Lunsford, English

Andrea Lunsford, former Distinguished Professor of English at Ohio State, is a world leader in the field of rhetoric and composition. She also completed her PhD in English at Ohio State.

Lunsford has designed and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in writing history and theory, literacy and intellectual property. She is author, co-author or co-editor of over 20 books and has argued that collaborative writing and the ability for writers to work together should be rewarded for their work on the same level as singular writers.

During her time at Ohio State, she served as vice chair of the Department of English, chair of the University Writing Board, and director of the Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing.

She has received many awards and honors, including the Exemplar Award from the Conference on College Composition and Communication, the Modern Language Association’s Mina P. Shaughnessy Award for best book on the teaching of writing, and the YWCA Women of Achievement Award.
