Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support

NIH begins requirement for creating documents in SciENcv on Jan. 25

Copied!

NIH recently announced the requirement that Senior/Key personnel must complete and certify the Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support created in SciENcv in all documents due on or after January 25, 2026.

The requirement applies to proposals, RPPRs, JIT submissions and prior approval requests.

Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) is an electronic system in which researchers assemble information on their expertise, employment, education and professional accomplishments. The information can be used to create and maintain biosketches in the format required by different federal agencies.

Since both the content of the new forms and the process for generating them have changed significantly from current practice, investigators should begin preparing as soon as possible.

Getting started:

  1. Obtain an ORCID iD, if you don’t already have one. An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) id is a unique, persistent identifier that helps distinguish among investigators who may have the same name.
  2. Link your ORCID iD to your eRA Commons account.
  3. Link your ORCID iD to your SciENcv account by:
    1. Logging in to SciENcv
    2. Clicking on your login ID in the top right corner
    3. Selecting Account Settings
    4. Selecting Add account under Linked Accounts
    5. Entering your ORCID iD
  4. Return to the dashboard and select SciENcv at the bottom left to begin generating forms
