Proofig AI

New tool supports researchers and enhances research integrity

Copied!

To support researchers in producing publication-ready, ethical research, Ohio State now offers Proofig AI, a powerful image verification tool designed to detect common issues before submission.

Maintaining image integrity is essential to upholding the highest standards of scientific excellence and credibility.

Image integrity issues are often unintentional, and around a third of peer-reviewed journal articles are flagged for image-related issues. Using tools to scan images for issues that are difficult to detect with the naked eye prior to submission can help avoid investigations or reputational damage.

All faculty, staff and students at Ohio State have free-of-charge access to Proofig AI. With Proofig AI, researchers can:

  • Identify image manipulation, duplication, reuse and plagiarism effortlessly.
  • Access advanced capabilities for FACS, Western Blot and microscopy images.
  • Detect AI-generated images.
  • Access more than 35 million PubMed images for comprehensive plagiarism checking.
  • Conduct rapid, automated analyses.

All analyses performed by Proofig AI are secure and confidential. Uploaded data are used solely for integrity checking and never shared or reused for training the system – even among Ohio State users.

Get started by logging into Proofig AI using your Ohio State Credentials. The system is configured to sync with any changes to your account. Once logged in, resources are available to help navigate the tool including a tutorial of key features and navigation and a help center.

Proofig AI Virtual Training Sessions

Two upcoming virtual training sessions for Proofig AI will be held via Zoom at noon on November 12 and December 4. The sessions will share how to run image integrity checks in Proofig AI; best practices for preparing figures for publication; and how Proofig supports responsible research and data transparency. Register and add the November 12 or December 4 session to your calendar.
