To strengthen alignment and maximize impact, ERIK is establishing an independent Innovation Investment Management function. Its primary charge will be to secure and deploy capital in accordance with Ohio State’s strategic plan, accelerating the growth of innovations and startups emerging from the university’s research enterprise.
Scott Griffin will lead the Innovation Investment Management team, joined by Kate Schulhaus. Becky Kaufman, ERIK’s senior associate vice president of Innovation Investment and New Ventures, will serve as executive advisor to the team while continuing her role in the Office of Legal Affairs.
“This new structure ensures that Ohio State is best positioned to support innovation and commercialization efforts across the university,” said John M. Horack, vice president for research and leader of ERIK. “It reflects our commitment to advancing our public, land-grant mission by bringing research-driven solutions to the marketplace.”
This dedicated team will report directly to the vice president for research and collaborate closely with the Innovation and Commercialization and Health Sciences Innovation teams.
