Have you ever wondered why you are expected to conduct a literature review as part of your research? Have you thought about why it is considered appropriate to cite certain types of sources but not other types of sources? There are many things that researchers are expected to do, or not do, when conducting research, but sometimes these expectations can be unclear. More novice researchers may feel that they are being asked to meet expectations that they did not even know existed. This presentation will highlight some of the hidden expectations for academic research that tend to be invisible to less experienced researchers. Participants should leave with a better understanding of the ways that experienced researchers approach and conduct research.
