As the national search for a chief scientific officer of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center continues, we are pleased to share that we have convened an advisory committee to help guide the search.
The search advisory committee will be co-chaired by Russell Lonser, MD, chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery in the College of Medicine and director of Ohio State’s Gene Therapy Institute, and Karen Rose, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing. Additional members include:
- Glen Barber, PhD, director of the Center for Innate Immunity and Inflammation and associate director for Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization at the OSUCCC – James
- Dennis Durbin, MD, MSCE, president of the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine
- James Fuchs, PhD, associate dean for Research and Graduate Studies and professor in the College of Pharmacy
- Tamar Gur, PhD, associate professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Neuroscience and Obstetrics and Gynecology, and endowed director of the Sarah Ross Soter Women’s Health Research Program in the College of Medicine
- Oscar Harari, PhD, director of the Division of Neurogenetics and associate professor in the Department of Neurology in the College of Medicine, and director of the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience Center
- Natalia Higuita-Castro, PhD, director of advanced therapeutics & engineering in the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, and associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Engineering and the Department of Neurological Surgery in the College of Medicine
- Julie Johnson, PharmD, associate vice president of research at Ohio State, and associate dean for Clinical and Translational Research and director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute in the College of Medicine
- Rama Mallampalli, MD, chair of the Department of Internal Medicine and director of the Medical Scientist Training Program in the College of Medicine
- Ann McAlearney, ScD, MS, associate dean for Health Services Research in the College of Medicine, and executive director of the Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics and Systems Thinking in Health Services and Implementation Science Research (CATALYST)
- Luiza Newlin-Lukowicz, PhD, associate vice president for Corporate and Foundation Engagement for the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK) and Office of Advancement at Ohio State
- Xia Ning, PhD, AI for Health lead for the AI(x) Hub at The Ohio State University, and division chief of AI in Digital Health in the Department of Biomedical Informatics in the College of Medicine
- Eugene Oltz, PhD, chair of the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity in the College of Medicine
- Matthew Ringel, MD, chair of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics in the College of Medicine, and deputy director for Basic Research in The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center
- Jennifer Woyach, MD, director of the Division of Hematology and professor in the Department of Internal Medicine in the College of Medicine
We’re confident that this multidisciplinary group will provide valuable insight and counsel as we seek a visionary leader who can help us build on the incredible growth and momentum happening across the medical center and university to expand our impact and achieve even greater excellence in biomedical and health sciences research and innovation.
