The Ohio State University hosted the 8th US-Japan Digital Innovation Hub and Advanced Technology Workshop in Columbus, Ohio, on September 11-12, 2024, the first time it had been hosted on a university campus.

These workshops are designed to strengthen collaboration between the United States and Japan in developing advanced technologies and digital talent while tackling the latest trends and challenges in each country. Since 2015, U.S. universities, industries and government agencies have collaborated with leading universities in Japan to build a platform for innovation creation in the digital and critical and emerging technologies (CET) space.

This year’s event focused on the development of semiconductors, the future of transportation and space exploration, artificial intelligence and quantum information science — vital areas that are impacting industries ranging from health and life sciences to advanced manufacturing and transportation. Rulemaking around data sharing and the Hiroshima AI process implementation was also discussed.
