BEGIN TRANSCRIPT Title: Dental Imaging Research and Clinical Innovation Speaker; Luiz Meirelles The research being developed here in the College of Dentistry focuses on high‑resolution imaging. These scans are extremely accurate, reaching precision levels down to 20 microns. By processing these scans, data can be collected from the preparatory procedure. This allows the surgeon to receive real‑time feedback during the procedure and make fine‑tuned adjustments as the work is being performed. The technique is based on existing hardware. This means that when surgeons begin working with this technology in the future, they will not need to acquire new equipment. The technology will be embedded into hardware already used in dental practices across the United States. The goal over the next two to three years is to bring this technology to market. Receiving this award will help support the next steps and make it possible to connect with people who can provide assistance in different areas. The inspiration for this work comes from patients. Every time patients sit in the dental chair, the goal is to achieve the best possible outcome. High precision is essential, and there is always a desire to find ways to improve. The progress achieved so far is due to the strong support of the team. The College of Dentistry has been very supportive by providing space and resources to help develop this technology. Having a good idea is an important start, but without hardworking people around, the process becomes much more difficult. The support received from Ohio State University has played a critical role in this work. END TRANSCRIPT
