Ohio State’s newest Rhodes Scholar focuses on international diplomacy and refugee rights

Laila Ujayli, a 2018 Ohio State graduate, has been named the university’s seventh Rhodes Scholar. She is one of 32 men and women chosen from 880 applicants. The Rhodes Scholarship, founded in 1902, supports graduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Ujayli plans to pursue master’s degrees in refugee and forced migration studies and world literature. She graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State with double majors in international relations and English and minors in screenwriting and general business.
