Office of Research launches Research Recovery Committee

President Drake convened the Post-Pandemic Operations Task Force to develop strategies and guidance around the “how” and “when” of returning to on-campus operations. To help with these efforts and gain additional insights from faculty and units across campus, the Office of Research has convened the Research Recovery Committee, tasked with planning for the ramp-up and recovery of the university’s research and creative expression mission. The recommendations emerging from this committee will help further inform the work of the Post-Pandemic Operations Task Force.

The Research Recovery Committee is comprised of a diverse group of faculty and academic leaders with expertise in different areas of research and creative expression across the entire university. The members include:

  • Bruce Weinberg, Department of Economics (co-chair)
  • Chris Jaroniec, associate dean for research, College of Arts and Sciences (co-chair)
  • Trudy Bartley, Office of Government Affairs
  • Jennifer Clark, City and Regional Planning, Knowlton School of Architecture
  • Karen Dannemiller, College of Public Health and College of Engineering
  • Aparna Dial, Office of Administration and Planning
  • Jacqueline Hoying, College of Nursing
  • Hannah Kosstrin, Department of Dance

  • Gene Oltz, Microbial Infection and Immunity, College of Medicine
  • Jessica Page, University Libraries
  • Daniel Pradel, Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering
  • Jacqueline Wilkins, Ohio State Extension, CFAES

The committee will be meeting regularly and working toward generating an initial set of recommendations around safely restarting research and creative expression activities on campus. This work will include looking at laboratory research, research involving animals and human subjects, studio/performance work, field research, and research utilizing various core facilities and university resources.
