College of Pharmacy to receive national award for excellence in community engagement

The College of Pharmacy’s Generation Rx program received the inaugural Engagement Scholarship Consortium Excellence in Community Partner Engagement  Award. The award recognizes a higher education institution and its exemplary contributions to scholarship and the practice of engaged scholarship.

At the infancy of the rising opioid epidemic, the college saw an emerging need to educate the public about safe medication practices and established Generation Rx in 2007 to help prevent prescription drug misuse.

Cardinal Health Foundation has provided nearly $1.5M in grant funding for Generation Rx. The program has created connections with other national organizations to further extend their reach.
