The Institute for Materials Research (IMR) is the gateway to materials research at Ohio State. IMR provides a variety of services and programs to the materials community, including coordination of major research proposals and awards, hosting an IMR Colloquia Series which brings national experts to the OSU campus, administration of three internal research grant programs, and management of several campus research facilities. IMR’s signature areas are: materials in alternative and sustainable energy and power; materials and the environment; biological materials, tissue engineering, and medicine; nanoelectronics and nanophotonics; multiscale modeling and computational materials science; multifunctional electronic, magnetic and molecular materials; sensor materials chemical, biological, electromagnetic; and polymer nanomaterials and nanobiotechnology.
