Matching Equipment Funds
Funds may be committed on a matching basis to groups or individuals preparing proposals to external agencies for the purchase of equipment that costs less than $250K. The standard is 70% of total equipment cost is requested from the sponsor. The balance of 30% is divided equally among the department, college, and the Office of Research. The Research Foundation sponsored programs officer or assistant must be contacted for guidance on this policy and must be consulted for advice if an agency requires a greater match.
Proposals involving equipment or related renovation costs equal to or greater than $250K must be submitted for Board of Regents Action funds. Under this program at least half the equipment cost must be requested from the sponsor. The Board of Regents will match 1/4. The remaining 1/4 must be matched equally by the department, college, and Office of Research. The minimum Action Fund request is $60,000.
Requests for Action funds must be submitted to the Office of Research. Since there is a strict deadline and other requirements, faculty must contact The Office of Research at (614) 292-1582 for details early in the proposal planning process.
