Caroline Whitacre, vice president for research, delivered the annual state of research address on October 22, 2015. This year’s address was titled From Inputs to Impact: Changing the Conversation.
Too often, the conversation about higher education and research focuses on numbers. But the full measure of our work is not seen from counting inputs like the amount of funding, or outputs such as the number of data repositories, or outcomes such as the number of publications. While these are important, it is the impact of our research that really makes a difference.
